     Lithuanian Association of Telephone Emergency Services (hereinafter - LATES) is a voluntary association of natural and legal persons which are working in the field of telephone emergency services. The LATES is created with the objective to satisfy the needs of the members and is implementing the economical, social and other tasks. The LATES is non profit seeking organization. The LATES was established in 1996. Currently there are 15 members of the association. The main part of the members are non governmental organizations, working in the field of mental health. The LATES is fostering cooperation among members and other NGOs and state institutions. The LATES is responsible for pooling the additional funds for the activities of the members and also is working with the quality issues.
     The main fields of activities:
  • implementing suicide and psychological crisis, violence and bullying prevention programmes;
  • assist in creation of psychological aid telephone and services;
  • organize the training courses for the employees of the members, also conferences;
  • creates the unified information and statistical data bank;
  • organizes the publicity activities and education of the society;
  • participates in policy making process regarding the elaboration of legal acts regulating psychical health issues.
     The association has an experience in implementing different projects. Since establishment it is starting a new and continuing existing programmes in the field suicide and crisis risk prevention.
